The centerpiece of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) new headquarters is a multi-story staircase connecting floors 8 through 11 in Kansas City’s iconic Town Pavilion skyscraper. Creating the large openings at each floor required modifications and reinforcement of the building’s unique stub-girder floor system. At each level, the dog-leg stair landings appear to float dramatically within the opening.
